Basic Operation
Preparing to use SwapManager
and a mobile rack is easy. Install the mobile rack frame in the computer,
then install the software. Before doing anything at all, be sure that your
computer is functioning properly. If there are any problems before
installing SwapManager, there will still be problems after installation.
Software Installation
First be certain that you have one of
the supported operating systems: Windows 95, 98, 98se, Me, 2000, or XP. If
you obtained the software on a CD with a mobile rack, just insert the CD
into your CDROM drive and follow the instructions on the screen.
Otherwise, download the software from
www.softhelp.cc/download/swapmanager.exe. After the download is complete,
find the swapmanager.exe file on your computer and double-click it with
your mouse. Installation will start. When it is finished it will place a
SwapManager icon on your desktop for easy access to the software. It is
not necessary to reboot the computer after installation.
Using SwapManager
Notice that the window displays the drives
attached to the computer and their designation according to IDE channel
and master/slave settings. If no drive icon appears then SwapManager was
unable to detect a drive. Perhaps there is no drive attached or there is a
hardware problem. Most problems are easily solved, so please continue
reading and most likely your system will be properly functioning in no
