Inserting a Drive With a drive in the tray, slide the tray into the mobile rack frame which has been installed in the computer. Insert it completely so that it locks in place. Note: some mobile racks allow you to push the tray in completely until it snaps in place; others require you to lift the handle, slide in the tray, then lower the handle, snapping the tray in place automatically. In any case, it should be easy to tell when the tray is securely in place. If it slides in or out easily, then it is not in place. The tray must be locked in place. This is not just good practice; it is required in order for the mobile rack to work. After sliding and snapping the tray in place, lock it. If your mobile rack has a keylock, insert the key and turn it until the tray is locked in place. If your mobile rack has a slide switch, slide it to lock the tray in place. In addition to functioning as a mechanical lock to secure the drive in place, locking also provides power to the drive. If it is not locked in place, then the drive will not be accessible to the computer. Double-click the new SwapManager icon on the desktop to display the SwapManager window. Clicking the "Swap In" or "Rescan" button will cause SwapManager to check all the drives and register the swappable drives that it finds. Drive letters will be assigned as needed. It may take about 4-5 seconds to properly register the new drives. Please be patient. After the new drives have been registered and you want to proceed, minimize or close SwapManager and continue using your computer as usual. Removing a Drive Click on the "Swap Out" button to remove a drive from the system. It may take several seconds. If one of the drives is swapped out by mistake, just swap it back in. |
